About Wendi Grace
Award winning IT Service Management Project Manager with over 25 years experience in IT, Financial Services, Banking and Pharmaceuticals.
Years ago I was asked to take on the role of works council represented after being nominated by my colleagues and peers, this role was to provide support and guidance to <3,500 employees in a corporate environment. I would act as mediator, facilitator and point of contact for people who needed work related support. I was nominated not because (as I thought) no one else wanted to do it, but because I am a good listener and genuinely have peoples best interests at heart.
I originally signed up (unofficially at the time) for coaching and mentoring when the company I worked for at the time started a coaching and mentoring scheme. I didn't have any formal training and was just trying to help my colleagues and peers with anything they needed help with really. I was helping team members deal with difficult situations, resolving conflict and career goals, and I was helping the graduate students and work experience students find their way around the corporate world.
I moved on in my career and in one of my roles I was lucky enough to participate in a 12 month part time Management Training Course, during this course I trained in and learnt about Emotional Intelligence and how to apply it, I also learned about Corporate Law, the role of the Manager in dealing with Human Resource issues, resolving conflict and two of my favourite parts of the course, Executive Coaching and Mentoring in which we had to live the life and actually coach and mentor others, and the other was to work on a BT Challenge Yacht for 4 days (and nights... in a hammock!!) where we swapped roles so everyone performed all of the roles required to work the Yacht and learn something along the way, such as teamwork, overcoming fears, embracing new opportunities to name a few.
After completing the course and gaining the Coaching Certificate I actively looked for coaching opportunities pretty much everywhere I went, from team members, peers, students and even family members (of which I have hoards of). I am passionate about helping others move up, move forward, gain perspective and achieve their goals.
I have helped people in all walks of life, and the greatest reward is when they contact me with stories of them overcoming challenges by saying things like "What would Wendi do" or "What would Wendi say", these aren't things that I actively coach on but they are an outcome of my approach to Coaching, to listen, support, encourage, guide and always look for ways to move forward and hopefully have a bit of fun along the way.
